The therapeutic use of crystals is not a new or alternative healing method. The art of healing with gems is thousands of years old. Evidence that gemstones were used to heal disease can be found from the most ancient civilisations. They were also considered to have protective and talismanic properties (possessing or believed to possess magic power especially protective power. “a talismanic amulet” ) and to keep away evil spirits.

Crystal amulets, talismans and charms have been found in prehistoric burial grounds. Such items were considered essential for the well-being of the dead.

Use of crystals for healing can be found in Sumerian writings and Indian vedic texts, (4000 BC). Vedic naturopathic medicine is known as Ayurveda. Ayurveda also makes use of crystal healing in the form of elixirs, pastes and powders made from gemstones. In the first Chinese medical book, written 5000 years ago by Shen Nung, the Red Emperor, detailed descriptions of gemstones and their influence on the human body can be found.

In the Bible, crystals are mentioned at least 200 times. There are strict instructions about the crystals to be used in the breastplate that God instructed Moses to produce for Aaron, the priest.

In Egypt, the tomb of Tutankhamun shows that, in addition to indicating the wealth and majesty of the Pharaoh, the stones possessed mystical charms to protect him in the after-life. Tutankhamun’s sarcophagus was made of quartzite. Within the linen bandages that swathed his body were 143 bejewelled amulets.

In America, both the Mayans and Indians used crystals as a means to diagnose illness as well as to cure it. Indians of the Cherokee tribe also used crystals for divination (the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown). Medicine men in American Indian tribes claimed to be able to foresee the future by gazing into the depths of large faceted crystals, just as today’s fortune tellers’ gaze into crystal balls. The Mayans also used obsidian slabs to foretell the future.

ALL THAT IS

The spirit, the source, the divine. The sum total that is everything

AURA/SUBTLE BODY

Subtle bio-energetic field surrounding the physical body, which can be sensed intuitively. The Aura holds imprints of emotions, blockages, thoughts and injuries

CELLULAR MEMORY

Genetic and past life information encoded in cells

CHAKRA

Linkage point between subtle energy and the physical body. Chakra malfunction leads to physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dis-ease

CRYSTAL

All stones, gems and minerals in their raw state, regardless of whether they have a crystalline structure

DIS-EASE

Final manifestation of spiritual, environmental, psychological, karmic, emotional or mental imbalance or distress

GROUNDING/GROUNDED

Anchoring energies to the earth; being fully connected to your physical body and the earth on which you walk

HEALING

Bringing the body and its subtle energies, mind, spirit and emotions back into balance on all levels. Healing does not imply to cure.

Crystal healing relies on the belief that a person is a complex interaction of energy. It focuses on removing energy imbalances or blocks from subtle energies of the body (usually known as the Aura).

The universe and everything in it, including ourselves, is formed from energy. Matter is not static and immovable, but a mass of moving particles of atoms and molecules emitting their own radiations of light, heat and colours. All our vibrations are constantly interacting with one another, connecting all life. Every mineral, plant, human and animal is energy and has its own vibration.

Crystals belong to the mineral kingdom. The mineral kingdom receives its life force energy from the sun and from other planetary sources. Stones are living entities; in a spiritual (or energetic) sense if not in a biological sense. They emit powerful vibrations and frequencies that can affect our whole being. Crystals were created as the earth formed and they have continued to evolve as the planet changes. Crystals are the earths DNA, a chemical imprint of evolution. They're miniature storehouses, containing the records of the development of the earth over millions of years, and bearing the memory of the powerful forces that shaped it. Some have been subjected to enormous pressure, others grew in chambers deep underground, some were laid down in layers, and some dripped into being. The way a crystal was formed affects it properties. Whatever form they take, their crystalline structure can absorb, conserve, focus and emit energy, especially on electromagnetic wavebands.

Through their energy and vibrations they can help to balance and attune the body, mind and spirit.

Our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being depends on a smooth flow of universal life force energy (known as ‘Prana’, Chi’ or Qi’) to our subtle bodies.

When the flow of energy becomes blocked, disharmony or dis-ease follows. These blocks of energy are often caused by our modern stressful lifestyle, bad diet, lack of natural light, and negative thoughts.

When we forget who we are and begin to focus on the negative or that which is unwanted, we create imbalances in our energy fields that can lead to dis-ease. The key to re-balancing the energy field is to focus NOT at all on what is not wanted (the ailment), but to visualise only what is wanted (perfect health) with positive expectancy. There are no hard rules for crystal healing. It’s an intuitive and inspired process. Trust that if you set a high intention, all you have to do is allow magic to happen – the law of attraction.

The best source for obtaining your crystals is a local store where you can browse. With so many crystals to choose from, it can be difficult to know which the right one for you is. If you want a crystal for a specific purpose, look under CRYSTAL PROPERTIES to see which one will be best suited for your needs. You can also pick out a crystal at random. Trust your intuition. Handle several crystals and allow yourself to be drawn to one. If the crystal makes your hand tingle, or you feel any other form of connection, this is your crystal. Outward beauty has nothing to do with the powerfulness of a crystal. Small, rough crystals can be extremely effective. Those labelled Austrian, lead crystal or Swarovski are nice to use for ornamental purposes or jewellery, but they lack the natural channelling abilities required for crystal therapy.

Another method of choosing a crystal is to stand in front of a group of crystals, close your eyes, open them again and pick the first crystal that your eyes are drawn to.  Sometimes you may be drawn to a particular crystal without knowing the reason. This crystal has found you and wants to pass something on to you. Meditation can provide an answer with respect to its purpose in your life.

We don’t become owners of crystals, we become guardians, and they come into our lives for a reason and can leave our lives when someone else needs them more than us.

You may discover that some crystals are man-made. These stones are usually less expensive, but keep in mind the difference in man-made vs natural energies. Naturally produced stones are the outpouring of the Earth’s history, love and knowledge.

Don’t be surprised or disappointed if the crystal you select isn’t the clearest, largest or most colourful – its beauty may not be immediately apparent to the naked eye. Trust your intuition to guide you to the perfect choice.

CLEANSING your crystals is extremely important to release stagnant, toxic energies that may have built up. If your crystals are not regularly cleansed their energies become blocked and less effective.

Cleansing involves more than removing surface dust or grease. Several methods can be used to prepare your crystal and restore its energy. Use the one that suits you best. Keep in mind that all crystals have a different level of hardness and some are even water soluble. Sea or salt water may scratch soft stones and layered stones can separate if handled to roughly.

  • Place your crystal in a bowl under a tap of cold running water and leave it there for at least 30 mins, so that any negative energies are washed away. Then take it out and allow to dry naturally, preferably in sunlight. If you have access to a running stream then place your stone in the flow for as long as possible. When you take it out you can gently wipe it dry with a soft cloth.

  • Leave your crystal in the garden in the rain, or even better, during a thunderstorm. Be sure to place the stone where it is in direct contact with the earth. This will provide a grounding effect. Allow the stone to dry naturally. It can also be left in the light of the moon.

  • Beam white, gold or violet light from your third eye and surround the crystal, sweeping away the negativity, to be transformed into positivity. Intention is important here and must be stated.

  • Reiki your crystals with the intention that they be fully cleansed and charged.

  • Leave your crystal in rice over night

  • Smudge your crystals with incense or a smudging stick, stating your intentions.

  • Sound can be used in the form of a crystal singing bowl or a bell, tuning fork or Tingshas (small Tibetan cymbals)

  • Place carnelian in a circle around the crystals which need to be cleansed and programme them to cleanse the crystals in the centre. This forms a cleansing sphere.

Your crystals will need to be cleansed from time to time, but not too often. Frequent cleansing will dissipate its energies, rather than allowing them to build up. It will need cleansing if it has been used a lot or if it has been neglected for some time or if other people have handled it.

Storing your crystals in a pouch or a drawer will stifle them. Don’t leave it in a box with other jewellery and trinkets. Place it on a clean surface where it can radiate its energy into the room, but ensure that it is not to close to a heater or other heat source as this could crack them. Especially, do not leave crystals in the sunlight unattended – Amethyst, Citrine and other coloured stones can fade in the sun, whereas Quartz acts as a magnifier and may cause a fire risk.

Prior to programming your crystals, it is necessary to charge them with energy. This can be done by placing in moonlight, sunlight, in the earth or placing amongst hematite.

Attuning to your crystals – take some time to get to know your crystals individually and discover how they will work for you as well as their own unique properties.

Sit quietly and take a crystal in your left hand (or your right if you feel this is your receiving hand)

Take a couple of deep breaths and let go of any pre-conceived ideas you have about the crystal and its uses.

The chakras are the 7 main energy centers that run along the spine. If one of the chakras is blocked or out of balance, then the energy cannot flow freely and evenly throughout the body. This in turn can lead to ailments, both physical and emotional. Understanding the different chakras will help you to realise when one of your chakras is unbalanced – and the necessary practices you can take to re-balance it. By performing the Chakra Balance Meditation Therapy explained to you further along in this course will enable you to rebalance your Chakras.

ROOT/BASE CHAKRA

Location: base of spine

Element: earth

Colour: red

The root chakra represents are foundation, support system, our ability to thrive and survive. It also directly relates to our connection with Mother Earth.

Blockages in the root chakra occur when we don’t feel grounded. Often this might be because we are travelling, worrying about money, we dislike our job, or we otherwise fell like we don’t have the stability that we need.

SACRAL CHAKRA

Location: below the belly button

Element: water

Colour: orange

The sacral chakra relates to family, sexuality and creativity. If you have low energy, no passion, drive, or no libido, then this is a sign that your sacral chakra is out of balance.

SOLAR PLEXUS

Location: below your diaphragm

Element: Fire

Colour: yellow

The solar plexus is connected to your self-esteem, your confidence, your emotions and your personal power.

If your solar plexus is out of balance, then you will likely feel a lack of confidence or shame. Alternately, you could be overly confident. You may also have weight problems, constipation, fatigue and even allergies.

HEART CHAKRA

Location: center of chest

Element: air

Colour: green/pink

As would be expected, the heart chakra relates to love, joy, connection and healing. This is the midpoint of the 7 chakra system with 3 chakras above & 3 chakras below. Making it about balance & equilibrium. When our heart chakra is balanced we feel calm & centered.

THROAT CHAKRA

Location: throat

Element: sound

Colour: blue

The throat chakra is deeply connected to communication and self-expression. It allows us to express our thoughts and ideas and also our creativity. An imbalance of the throat chakra can be if you speak too often while having trouble listening to others. You might also find your throat chakra is blocked if you have difficulty with self-expression and communicating the way you feel.

THIRD EYE CHAKRA

Location: between brows on forehead

Element: light

Colour indigo

The 3rd eye chakra corresponds strongly to our intuition and imagination. It has a more passive quality and is concerned with inner vision. Its function is the understanding and analysis of reality.

If your 3rd eye is not balanced, you may experience eye sight problems, as well as a lack of creativity, lack of imagination and being out of touch with your gut or intuition.

CROWN CHAKRA

Location: crown of head

Element: thought/spirit

Colour: white, silver, gold, tinged with violet

The crown chakra is located four finger widths above the crown of the head. It is often visualised as a lotus flower with a thousand petals. It is concerned with imagination, thought, spirituality and connection with our higher self. It is our connection to the source. If your crown chakra is blocked, then it is likely you will feel the burden of a “monkey mind”. You might never be able to quiet your mind, be easily distracted, or be called flighty or spacey.

Below is a visual diagram of where the chakras are positioned

The more you learn about the Chakra system the more beneficial it will be to your crystal healing treatments. There is more than 1 way to balance a chakra.

Below is just a short list of some different ways we can re-balance them if we do not have time to do a full chakra balance treatment, or if we have a problem chakra that keeps becoming unbalanced, if this happens we need to look more into why this chakra has an energy block? Again this is where learning more about the chakra system comes in (maybe have a think about doing my chakra workshop)

  1. Spend time in nature.

Sitting in the grass or walking barefoot is a great way to feel more connected and absorb the healing energy of nature. This will also help to keep you grounded and bring more peace into your life.

Even adding flowers or plants to your home will make a positive difference.

  1. Practice creative visualization.

Clearing your mind from negative chatter is the first step to successful visualization. Once your mind is clear, try visualizing images that represent happiness or love.

For example, you could visualize a flower opening or a heart blessing each of your chakras.

  1. Breathe deeply.

Breathing with intention is one of the easiest and most effective ways to restore your chakras.

To help bring your chakras into their natural and harmonic balance, every time you inhale, direct the energy of your breath to your chakra; exhale and allow awareness to settle into the chakra.

  1. Wear the right colours.

Did you know that each of your chakras emits a different colour? And each colour represents a specific vibration?

Red colour represents your root chakra, orange — your sacral chakra, yellow — solar plexus chakra, green or pink — heart chakra, blue — throat chakra, indigo or purple — third eye chakra, and purple or white represents your crown chakra.

So if you’re working on balancing the heart chakra, for example, make sure you wear green or burn a pink candle.

  1. Practice gratitude.

By now, you probably know that when you’re in a state of gratitude, you instantly raise your vibrational frequency.

When you raise your vibration, you open your chakras and you start attracting more positive things in your life, like abundance, happiness, peace and even better relationships!

All living things have an aura or energy field that surrounds the body. The aura is composed of 7 subtle bodies or layers which interact with each other. Although we describe these bodies as being separate from one another, there is really no clear definition, for they blend one into another, and with the physical body, exchanging energy and colours.

Its sole purpose is to protect your physical body and keep away any negative vibrations, that you are around which could potentially cause you harm. The touchy, hug loving types among us or kinaesthetic for want of its proper name, will already have felt auras and know they exists and felt them on occasions. We have all known people in our time or been introduced to people, shaken hands or gone in for a hug and just had that feeling or sensation that something wasn’t right or you didn’t feel the need or want to be around them. That’s because you had conflicting auras, you didn’t connect with this person or your auras didn’t match

As humans we are all very much aware of our physical bodies, we know how they are meant to feel, what sensations we are used to. We can feel our bones, muscles, we can feel our own heartbeat and even our breath. But not all of us know we can see, sense or touch our subtle bodies!

To put it simply, an aura is a vibrant ray of colour composed of energy that flows around living things. Stemming from the Greek word for “breeze,” our auras indicate our moods, emotions, and overall vibe. Essentially, before we can even exchange hellos, our auras make the first impression for us. An aura or auric field is a personal portrayal of our own and unique life story, it is full of information about your life, made up of memories, personal beliefs, mental and emotional thoughts, every aura is different, as we are all different and unique in our own ways. Our aura constantly changes depending what is going on in our lives and how we are feeling. If we are feeling low or in a negative frame of mind, our aura shrinks to reflect this. The same things happens when we are happy and vibrating on a higher level of positive thoughts and actions, it then expands naturally outwards.

The layers that make up or Aura

  1. The Etheric Layer

This is the layer closest to the physical body, and the layer some therapists can see during treatments. Sits approximately two to four inches away from the physical body, and can be seen as a faint grey/violet mist. This layer is connected to the base chakra.

  1. The Emotional Layer

This layer sits directly outside the etheric body, extending one to three inches. This layer is connected to the sacral chakra, and holds all our emotions, feelings and sensitivity such as joy, sorrow, love and hate.

  1. The Mental Layer

This layer sits directly outside the emotional body, extending three to eight inches from the physical body. This layer is connected to the solar plexus chakra, and contains all our mental thought processes such as rules, regulations, judgement and discipline. Usually, this layer is represented by the colour yellow.

  1. The Astral Layer

This layer can extend out to about one foot. It is the bridge between the lower vibrations of the physical plane, and the higher vibrations of the spiritual. Connected to the heart chakra, this layer is represented by a beautiful rainbow colour.

  1. The Etheric Template

This layer extends out about two feet. Connected to the throat chakra, this layer represents the blueprint of the physical body and looks much like the negative of a photograph.

  1. The Celestial/Causal Layer

This layer can extend for up to two and a half feet. Connected to the 3rd eye chakra, this is where your spiritual connection begins and the process of enlightenment.

  1. The Spiritual Layer

This layer can extend for up to three feet. Connected to the crown chakra, and protecting all the other layers it vibrates at the highest frequency, and is often seen as a brilliant white or golden light.

In crystal healing we use tumble-stones to gently remove imbalances or negative energies from the aura before we do a chakra balance. Crystals are an effective tool for cleaning the aura and removing energy disruptions.

Crystals (also referred to as gemstones) are one of the most common methods for healing and protecting auras. People will use crystals to make sure that their aura is as protected as possible and then also when they believe their aura has, in a sense, been compromised.

Holes, known as “auric tears,” can form in your aura. This means that the positive energy within your aura is susceptible to infiltration of negative energy. Those who believe in crystal therapy as it relates to auras believe this can lead to trauma, depression, physical injury, low self-image and a myriad of other ailments.

The way to repair these holes? Crystals. Each crystals is assigned a different use in healing. Depending on the crystal’s purpose, it can clean a different part of your aura or help to heal your aura, mending the auric tear. They can also be used to get rid of psychic vampires, or those around you who leech away your energy.

Every type of gemstone you can imagine can be used in crystal healing.

Chakra: base/root

Jasper is known as the “supreme nurturer”. It sustains and supports during times of stress, and brings tranquillity and wholeness. Used in healing, it unifies all aspects of your life. Jasper reminds people to help each other.

Use for long periods of time, as Jasper works slowly.

You can use a crystal pendulum to connect with your higher self in order to ask questions or to check if chakras are appropriately balanced.

Make sure that you have cleansed your pendulum in the same way that you cleanse your crystals. You might also wish to dedicate it for use either for yourself/personal use or for use on clients. (it is useful to have more than 1 pendulum for different uses).

There is no right or wrong way to choose a pendulum, go with your gut, or choose 1 you are drawn to? Try several out, see which feels right, one you feel connected to?

You will need to start determining a “yes” and “no” answer from your pendulum.

  • Hold your pendulum with enough chain to allow it to spin. The longer the chain, the slower the spin. Try holding it at different lengths and you will get used to what works best for you.
  • Place your receiving hand (usually the left) palm up underneath the point of the pendulum with a 1-2” gap between the point and the palm.
  • Ask your pendulum to give you a sign for “yes”. Give it a few moments to react. Your pendulum will have a definite swing in 1 direction, maybe clockwise/anti clockwise or from side to side/backwards and forwards. This direction is yours and it will be the same whichever pendulum you use in the future.
  • Now ask a question that you know the answer to be “yes” like is my name Annmarie?
  • Then ask it a question that you know the answer is “no” like am I 21 (I wish)

The way your pendulum moves, circular or back and forth will usually always stay the same for yes or no ever when you ask it to answer you, but it’s always good to check beforehand.

Now take some time to watch the video below on how to ask your crystal pendulum to give you a clear sign of what is a sign for "yes & no"

Then have a play with your pendulum to get use to how it reacts with you and the questions you ask it.

Note: If doing this treatment on yourself, it can be done reclined back in a chair or lying down, but it is easier to place and balance the crystals if lying down.

Starting at your crown chakra holding the pendulum approximately 3" above the crown & ask it, is my crown chakra balanced?

Then go to your 3rd eye chakra (between your brows) & ask the same?

Your throat chakra?

Your heart chakra?

Your solar plexus chakra? (just below your diaphragm)

Your sacral chakra? (below your belly button)

Your root/base chakra? Base of your spine? (place on pelvic bone)

(make note of the answers)

CHAKRA BALANCING MEDITATION SESSION

Take time to do this on a regular basis for constant body, mind and spirit balance.

The chakras are energy centers within the body. These help keep the body in harmony and a natural state of balance.

Chakra means WHEEL in ancient times, and the chakra are in constant motion. They are depicted as lotus flowers with the ability to open and shut their petals. The chakras are not situated on the front or the back of the body, but are aligned in the center of the spine.

To activate the chakras we visualise beautiful open lotus flowers spinning gently. This meditation works with the 7 major chakras.

So we will have checked if our own/or clients chakras are balanced or not with the use of our pendulum, made notes of which are balanced and which are not (so we don't forget)

Get yourself comfortable, or make sure your client is comfortable

Start by placing crystals on the correct chakras

Focus on your breath, or ask your client to focus on their breath

Breathe deep & low into the stomach

Exhale slowly

Repeat this 3 times

Then start to read or listen to the chakra meditation, take your time and allow enough time for the client to take notice of what you are saying or noticing any feelings, emotions etc that they may experience.

Chakra meditation script

Take your attention down to the base of your spine, this is the area of your base chakra, breathe into this area and exhale gently. Visualise and breathe in the colour RED. Notice how you feel in this area, any emotions/thoughts that come up. See a large red flower with many petals spinning.

The base chakra represents our foundations, our support system; our ability to thrive and survive. Feel this area becoming cleansed and strong. Breathe out the tension and breathe in health and renewal.

Moving up the spine now to just beneath the belly button and the same area on the spine. This is the sacral chakra. Breathe in the colour ORANGE and visualise a beautiful orange flower with many petals spinning. Notice how you feel in this area, any emotions that may arise. The sacral chakra is connected to family, sexuality and creativity. Feel this area becoming cleansed and strong. Breathe out the tension and breath in health and renewal.

Moving higher up the spine now to just below the diaphragm, to the solar plexus. Breathe in the colour YELLOW and visualise a beautiful yellow flower wit many petals spinning. Notice how you feel in this area, any feeling that may come up. The solar plexus is connected to your self-esteem, your confidence, your emotions and your personal power. Feel this area becoming cleansed and strong. Breathe out tension and breathe in health, renewal and balance.

Moving higher up the spine and chest now to the heart chakra. Breathe in the colour GREEN and visualise a delicate and generous green flower with many petals spinning. Notice how you feel in this area, any feelings that may come up. The heart chakra is connected to your ability to love and to be loved, compassion and deep sensitivity. Feel this area becoming cleansed and strong and perfectly balanced.

Turn your focus to the throat now, the great cathedral of sound. Breathe in the colour BLUE and visualise a beautiful blue flower with many petals spinning. Notice how you feel in this area, any feelings that may arise. The throat chakra is very healing, breathe out and feel the ability to speak clearly and easily communicate your truth with pure clarity. Feel this area becoming cleansed and strong. Breathe out the tension and breathe in health renewal and balance.

Move your attention to the area between your brows, this is your 3rd eye, your brow chakra. This is your deep void, your area of intuition and inner knowing. Breathe in a DEEP PURPLE and visualise a velvety purple flower with many petals spinning and vibrating gently. Feel this area at peace.

Turn your focus to the crown of your head, this is your crown chakra. The colour is WHITE, SILVER & GOLD TINGED WITH VIOLET. This is your highest center of consciousness in the major chakras. Your connection with the source. Breathe in this sparkling fountain of white light, all the way to the centre of this white flower that has a thousand petals. Let it cleanse you with the breath.

Now take a deep breath allow that sparkling energy to travel to all the other chakras down your spine all the way to your feet.

Feel it deeply cleansing and grounding you so you are safe and secure.

Now close gently each flower to a size that feels right to you. Start at the crown, the brow, the throat, the heart, the solar plexus, the sacral, and the base chakra.

Slowly and gently in your own time after the count of 5 you will awake refreshed and balanced.

5

4…. Making small movements with fingers and toes

3

2….. feeling more awake

1……. Bringing your awareness back fully to the room

Now re-check chakras & see if they are balanced

You will find a video in the video section of the Chakra meditation for you to be able to do this on yourself.

Why is it important to ground your energy?

Grounding is basically balancing out the spiritual and physical energy in your body, by connecting yourself with the earth. When you are grounded, you feel like you are here, in the physical, in the present. To be grounded gives your energy a point of steadiness and you will feel clear, centered, strong and focused

It is very important to ensure that you ground yourself before and after any energy work. You can use the grounding meditation in the next chapter if you wish.

MEDITATION FOR GROUNDING

When you finish your crystal healing meditation it is essential to ground the energy. It is important generally after a session that a sense of grounding or earthing is achieved. During meditation the energy centers and the outer bodies are far more open and sensitive, so it is an idea to ground before we return to our normal activities. This stops the “spaced out” feeling afterwards.

Start by taking a few deep breaths; imagine the breath travelling down the body, down the legs and into the feet.

Feeling the feet heavy and connected strongly to the floor. Feel the breath expanding through the toes and expanding into the earth below.

Your feet are falling deeper and deeper in the warm earth.

You feel safe, held and supported.

Feel your feet becoming the roots of a great tree, expanding and connecting with the earth beneath.

Feel cradled in this space….

With your feet firmly rooted, feel that grounded energy travel up the body and imagine that your head, arms and hands are the branches of a mighty tree.

You are strong but can easily move. You become aware of the changing seasons around you and feel this gentle effect of shedding and rebirth on the body.

Feel the gentle changes and sounds of the countryside.

Feeling rejuvenated and alive…. Strong but subtle

Safe, supported and at peace (repeat)

Becoming aware of your present and focusing back in the room, coming back to full awareness and opening your eyes after 5,4,3,2,1

Look in the video section to watch a video for you to use on yourself & also below is a pdf to download for your own use

Other ways in which we can quickly ground ourselves are to

Walk barefooted on the earth

Drink some water

Breath work; breathe yourself into your body

Close your eyes and imagine roots of a strong tree coming from the soles of your feet and working their way down into the ground below you

Why do you need to protect your energy?

Most of us know how important it is to be physically healthy, eating the right food, getting the right amount of exercise and have a good quality sleep pattern, along with a good work life balance. But many of us don’t realise or think about how important it is to be mentally healthy and to protect our mental energy. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the best shape of your life if your mental health/energy is compromised by something (someone) draining you, you’re going to feel terrible.

That job you thought you’d love? It looked good on paper, but the office/shop is a gossip-laden minefield, and you dread going in. That “friend or family” known forever? Does nothing but complain about everything, life, work, friends & family, and makes sneaky little comments that have you questioning yours? Every time you meet up with them you leave feeling utterly drained, exhausted & in a low mood.

That environment is bad for you, and so is spending time with that family member or friend. To really be living your best life, you need to know how to protect your energy from this sort of negativity.

Protecting your energy is crucial to your mental and physical health because it is the ultimate determinant of your overall happiness. We give a lot of ourselves away every day, at work, to our friends, our loved ones. We need to recognize that our needs are just as important as everyone else's

Below are some simple but effective ways to protect ourselves from other people’s negative energy

When it comes to protecting yourself from negative energy, creating a barrier is a super useful practice. Much the same as thinking about your happy place, doing this taps into the power of visualization.

Take a breath, close your eyes and surround yourself with a soft white positive light. Think of it as a protective bubble, a force field or some good old-fashioned light therapy. Whatever you call it, it’s a solid way to block out negative vibes.

You may wish to simply call in your own guardian angels, gods, goddess or universal energy to protect you.

You could also wear or carry a crystal for protection. Labradorite is a common crystal used for this purpose; other options are bronzite or tourmaline.

Surrender to your breath. If you suspect you are picking up someone else’s negativity, concentrate on your breath for a few minutes. In contrast, holding your breath keeps negativity lodged in your body. To purify negative energy, exhale stress and inhale calm. Picture negative emotions/energy as a grey mist leaving your body with every out breath, and positive energy as a clear bright light entering your body on every in breath. This can produce quite quick results, one of my personal favourites.

We need to spend time with our different crystals and see how they make you feel, physically, mentally & also emotionally. See how they feel, what sensation do we feel in our hands when holding them, do we feel any sensations in other parts of our bodies. Maybe try doing this on different days with the same crystal, and see if the difference in your energy makes the crystal respond differently to you at different times, also do they give off different vibrations and sensations when we feel differently ourselves, when we are happy? When we feel down? How do they feel then? See if they give you more on days that you may feel you need it.

Have fun with it and make notes, sometimes messages don't always make sense when they first appear to us. Sometimes it takes time for us to see them and make sense of them.

How to determine if your crystal is water soluble?

When you bring home a new crystal it may have mud, dirt, oil or debris on it, so you want to physically clean the crystal first. Depending on the type of crystal it is, determines how you would clean it. Not all crystals can be immersed in water. If you are not sure whether your new crystal is water-soluble or not, you may want to ask your crystal store.

The rule of thumb is, any mineral that has a rating of 6 or higher on Moh's scale of mineral hardness can be safely cleaned with water. Crystals that can be safely cleaned using water include the Quartz family: clear or "rock," smoky, rose, amethyst, chalcedony, aventurine, etc. and gemstones, such as diamonds, rubies sapphires, emeralds etc.

Those crystals that score lower than 6 on the Moh's Scale are water soluble and will dissolve, so they cannot be cleaned using water.

If you are not sure where the crystal you have lies on the "Moh's Scale", the minerals ending in "ite" tend to be water-soluble. These crystals include: Fluorite, Calcite, Malachite, Halite, Sodalite, and Rhodizite ...and should not be exposed to water.

Although, these do not end in "ite", but Lapis Lazuli, Turquoise, Ivory and Gypsum are also water-soluble.

There is also a little test you can conduct to determine the water solubility of a crystal. You take a small specimen with a steel knife. Try and scratch the surface of the crystal. If it scratches, 10 times out of 10 it is water-soluble.

What is Mohs Hardness Scale?

One of the most important tests for identifying mineral specimens is the Mohs Hardness Test. This test compares the resistance of a mineral to being scratched by ten reference minerals known as the Mohs Hardness Scale. The test is useful because most specimens of a given mineral are very close to the same hardness. This makes hardness a reliable diagnostic property for most minerals.
